Being Human

In the beginning, man was created . . .
And all was good. He loved himself
and all that surrounded him--the earth,
the waters, the creatures and, most of all, his family...
He gave to receive only the comfort of a caring, nurturing household . . .
To create a safe place for himself, and those he loved, to grow.
Days-in and days-out, perpetuating the length of his lineage--it was enough . . .
And with that he was satisfied.
Satisfied to watch as the ones he loved grow to love their own . . .
Satisfied to see the final days of what life
he was given--that he loved--dwindle down until a final breath . . .
Free from anguish--which he had never known.
He died, only hoping that his children--and their children,
as well--would continue to experience such bliss as he had.
